What’s in the box?
The Boat Lunar Tigon comes in a square box with all the details neatly printed on it. Additionally, the box features a QR code that allows you to conveniently download the Boat Wearables app.
Upon opening the box, you will find the watch itself along with a separate box containing all the accessories. These accessories include a user manual, a warranty card, and a Pogo charging cable of high quality. Additionally, there are some stickers included in the box for added enjoyment.
Boat Lunar Tigon Design and Build Quality
The Boat Lunar Tigon impresses with its clean and bold design featuring a flat screen and sharp edges, creating a modern and premium aesthetic that effortlessly complements any outfit. The flat screen design allows users to apply a full-body screen guard or a customized one for added protection.
Measuring 45mm in diameter and 11mm in thickness, the watch is notably slim and sleek. Its standout feature lies in the full metal case construction, ensuring exceptional durability. On the right side, a functional metal crown enhances the watch’s usability, with an eye-catching orange plastic ring inserted in the crown button for added appeal.
Adjacent to the functional crown is another button, also crafted from full metal. Between these two buttons, the watch houses a built-in microphone, while the built-in speaker is positioned on the opposite side. The overall sleek metal body contributes to its top-notch build quality, making it a standout option in the market.
Turning to the back side, a unique QR code, Boat branding, charging cable, and all sensors are present, showcasing a glossy finish. The watch features a glossy finish on the back and a matte finish on the front.
The 22mm-wide strap, made of hard rubber, deviates from the norm of soft straps found in most smartwatches. However, a positive aspect is the inclusion of a metal buckle on the strap, enhancing its durability.
Lastly, the design and look of the Boat Lunar Tigon are highly appealing, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a premium-looking smartwatch under 3000 rupees.
Boat Lunar Tigon Display and Watch Faces
The Boat Lunar Tigon smartwatch features an impressive 1.45-inch AMOLED display with a high resolution of 466×466 pixels and a brightness of 600 nits. The display boasts slim bezels, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal and a wide 178-degree viewing angle, providing decent visuals.
The brightness and color accuracy of the display are superior, offering an enhanced experience when applying custom watch faces. As is common with most smartwatches, the functional crown button serves as a navigation tool for accessing the menu and returning.
Another function is a shortcut to the sports mode. In the main window of the sports mode, you have access to 20 main sports modes, which can be customized in the Personalize section.
Changing watch faces is a seamless process, achievable by rotating the functional crown button or long-pressing on the screen. The same button is used to navigate the menu up and down. Two options for selecting watch faces are available – cloud watch faces and custom watch faces.
The app provides a selection of over 100 cloud watch faces, offering superior quality with both analog and digital options. Notably, these watch faces align with those available on the BeatXP Nuke smartwatch. Additionally, the app includes several live watch faces.
In the custom watch faces section, users can personalize the background image and color of the time and add/remove steps, calorie count, heart rate, and distance. However, it’s worth mentioning that there is no option for live wallpapers in the custom watch face section, although it is available in the cloud watch faces.
Overall, the Boat Lunar Tigon’s display quality and watch face options are commendable, offering a variety of choices at an attractive price point.
Bluetooth Calling and Notifications on the Boat Lunar Tigon Smartwatch
The Boat Lunar Tigon smartwatch provides a smooth calling experience with its functional built-in microphone and speaker. The speaker delivers a clear sound, ensuring the user can hear the caller audibly. The built-in microphone works perfectly, making the user’s voice clear to the caller. Additionally, the noise-canceling feature effectively reduces background noise, delivering clear audio, although it may not eliminate noise hitting the microphone directly.
When receiving a call, users have the option to pick up or disconnect, with the watch vibrating instead of producing a ringtone. After answering, options to mute, disconnect, or transfer the call to the mobile phone are available.
While social media calls are not supported, the watch displays notifications for these calls and indicates missed calls. The calling features also allow users to save up to 20 contacts, displaying both the name and number in the contact list. The call history section provides details on outgoing and incoming calls along with the date.
The watch’s dialer functions effectively, allowing users to easily dial any number directly from the watch, enhancing its practicality for day-to-day use.
Moving to the notification feature, the watch activates and vibrates upon receiving a message. It supports large messages and multiple languages, ensuring easy readability with its appropriately sized font. Social media notifications are fully supported, with individual options to enable or disable notifications for each platform. However, for other apps, the notification option is limited to a global on/off setting.
Overall, the calling and notifications features of the Boat Lunar Tigon smartwatch offer convenience and efficiency, contributing to a seamless day-to-day experience. Stay tuned for insights into its additional features and sensor performance.
UI and Other Features of the Boat Lunar Tigon Smartwatch
The Boat Lunar Tigon smartwatch boasts convenient features like “raise to wake up” and “rotate to wake up” gestures, both of which function flawlessly. Activating the display whenever you raise or rotate your wrist to check the time and turning it off when you rotate your wrist in the opposite direction enhances usability, particularly when engaged in activities like reading, writing, or riding a vehicle.
The “Find My Phone” feature works effectively, triggering the ringtone to help locate your phone. It utilizes the same ringtone set for your phone calls, adding practicality to the feature.
The smartwatch’s brightness is commendable, offering excellent visibility even in daylight conditions. With a peak brightness of 600 nits, it ensures optimal visibility in various lighting environments.
A notable feature is the music control functionality, allowing users to manage music directly from the watch. This includes playing, pausing, navigating to the previous or next track, and controlling the music volume. Additionally, there’s an option to switch the output sound from the watch to the phone and vice versa.
The user interface (UI) is smooth, easy to understand, and provides a clean experience. Importantly, the absence of bugs ensures a hassle-free user experience, eliminating potential issues with the smartwatch.
However, the watch doesn’t include gaming features and lacks the option to turn off the calling feature.
All in all, the Boat Lunar Tigon smartwatch offers practical and user-friendly features, contributing to a seamless and enjoyable user experience. Here are insights into additional features and sensor performance.
Sensor Accuracy on the Boat Lunar Tigon Smartwatch
It’s crucial to note that, as with most smartwatches, relying on sensors for serious conditions is not recommended, and these devices are more suitable for casual purposes.
Regarding the heart rate monitor and SpO2 monitor on the Boat Lunar Tigon smartwatch, the results may not be entirely reliable. During testing, there was a noticeable difference of around 7 to 10 readings in heart rate monitoring and 3 to 5 points in SpO2 monitoring compared to oximeter readings.
The stress monitor on this watch is also deemed unreliable, so caution is advised when interpreting the results from this particular feature.
On a positive note, the steps counter feature works accurately in both normal and sports modes, providing reliable results consistently.
The sleep monitor and calorie-burning features of the watch are described as 50% to 70% reliable, allowing users to trust them based on personal preferences. Similarly, the distance tracking feature of the watch is functional, offering 80% to 90% accuracy when location tracking is enabled.
Battery Performance
The smartwatch features a 260mAh battery that delivers a battery life of 4 to 5 days with normal usage and 2 days with Bluetooth calling enabled. If you don’t connect the watch to the phone, it will provide a battery backup of 8 to 10 days.
The battery backup usually depends on how you use the watch and the number of notifications you receive.
It takes approximately 2.5 hours to charge fully with a 10W charger. Additionally, I recommend using a 10W to 15W charger to charge this device, which will keep the battery healthy and allow you to use the watch for a long time.
Should You Buy the Boat Lunar Tigon Smartwatch?
That’s it! Now you know everything about the Boat Lunar Tigon Smartwatch and can make the right decision. Let us know if we missed anything about this watch.
In our opinion, this smartwatch is an excellent choice to buy under 3000 rupees as its design, look, build quality, and features are top-notch, providing a premium feel. Also, the UI is good and works butter-smooth, making it easier to operate.
Excluding sensor accuracy and the absence of games, everything this app offers is worth it compared to the price point. What I liked best about this smartwatch is its flat AMOLED display.
