Age Calculator by Date of Birth: Find Your Exact Age in Years, Months and Days

Enter a date of birth, and this age calculator returns your age in years, months and days. Click Age Today for your current age, or pick any other date to see how old you were, or will be, on that day. That second option is what most forms and exam notifications actually ask for. A separate tab compares two birth dates and tells you who is older and by how much. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is sent or saved.

What the calculator shows

Age Calculator
Age Calculator

The main result is your age in completed years, months and days. Below it you get:

  • the day of the week you were born, and a countdown to your next birthday with the weekday it falls on
  • the next milestone age (18, 21, 30, 40 and so on) and how many days away it is
  • two progress bars: how far you are through the current year of age, and how much of a 100-year life you have lived
  • whether your birth year was a leap year, and how many 29 Februaries you have lived through
  • your total time lived in months, weeks, days, hours, minutes and seconds

How age is calculated

The method is the one you would use on paper. Subtract the birth year, month and day from the target date. If the day difference is negative, borrow the length of the previous month. If the month difference is negative, borrow one year.

Take a birth date of 15-03-1990 and a target date of 14-10-2026:

  • Years: 2026 − 1990 = 36
  • Months: 10 − 3 = 7
  • Days: 14 − 15 = −1, which is negative

Borrow one month, leaving 6 months, and add the 30 days of September to the day count. That gives 36 years, 6 months and 29 days.

As a check, 15-03-2026 is exactly 36 years after birth. From there to 15-09-2026 is six months, and 15-09 to 14-10 is 29 days. The total comes to 13,362 days, including the nine leap days between 1992 and 2024.

People born on 29 February have no birthday in non-leap years. This tool counts 1 March as the birthday in those years.

Checking your age for a government exam or job form

Recruitment notifications state the age limit “as on” a fixed cutoff date. It is not the date you will apply, and it is not today. This is the most common mistake candidates make, and it can decide whether an application is valid.

To check your eligibility:

  1. Open Exam eligibility check and enter the cutoff date from the notification.
  2. Enter the minimum and maximum age. Leave one blank if the notification has only one limit.
  3. Click Calculate. The tool shows your exact age on the cutoff date and whether it falls within the limits.

The maximum age is treated as inclusive only when you are exactly that age on the cutoff, with zero months and zero days extra. Someone who is 30 years and 1 day old is over a limit of 30.

The tool does not apply category relaxations. If you are entitled to one, add it yourself. For a 5-year relaxation on a 30-year limit, enter 35 as the maximum. Treat the result as a quick check and confirm it against the official notification, because rules differ between recruiting bodies and change between years.

Other times you need age on a specific date

  • School admissions: boards and schools set a minimum age as on a particular date, and a child can be a few days short.
  • Insurance: some insurers price by age at last birthday and others by nearest birthday. This tool gives completed years, so check which rule your insurer uses.
  • Retirement planning: enter a future date to see your age when a policy matures or a pension begins.
  • Voting: the tool shows whether you have completed 18 years on the date you select.

Age difference calculator

Open the Age Difference tab and enter two dates of birth. The result shows who is older, the gap in years, months and days, and the gap in total days, weeks and months. It also shows each person’s age today.

For example, siblings born on 15-03-1990 and 20-08-1995 are 5 years, 5 months and 5 days apart. Because the tool uses the real calendar for each month, the gap is exact.

Why results can differ from other calculators

Some tools treat every month as 30 days or use a fixed 365-day year, which can shift the result by a few days. This calculator uses actual calendar months and real leap years. Hours, minutes and seconds are calculated from whole days. The heartbeat figure is an estimate that assumes about 70 beats a minute.

Your data stays on your device

The calculation runs in your browser. The dates you enter are not uploaded, stored or tied to an account. The only time anything leaves the page is when you choose Share on WhatsApp, and then only the result text is shared.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my age from my date of birth?

Select your date of birth and click Age Today. The tool subtracts it from today’s date and shows completed years, months and days.

How do I find my age on a particular date?

Set that date in the “Calculate age on” fields and click Calculate on Selected Date. Future dates work too.

What is a cutoff date, and how do I use it here?

It is the date a recruitment notification uses to measure your age. Enter it in the eligibility section, along with the minimum and maximum age, to see whether you qualify.

Does the calculator handle leap years?

Yes. It uses real month lengths and counts 29 February correctly. For leap-day births, 1 March is treated as the birthday in non-leap years.

How many days old am I?

The Total time lived section shows your age in days, along with weeks, hours, minutes and seconds.

Is the voting eligibility check official?

It only tells you whether you have completed 18 years on the selected date. Voter registration follows Election Commission rules and qualifying dates, so confirm on the official portal.

Is my date of birth saved anywhere?

No. The calculation happens in your browser, and nothing is stored or sent to a server.
